Common Client Questions

Arrival & Parking Information

When you arrive, please park on the gravel parking pad off the street, next to the white, linear parking cone and laurel bushes. You’ll see a Grounded Glow Studio sign marking the location.

To find the studio entrance, walk around the side of the house, behind the garage—the gravel path will lead you directly to the studio door. If you arrive early, please remain in your car until 5–7 minutes before your appointment time so the space is calm and ready for you.

  • I recommend starting with either the Essential Glow or Elevated Glow Facial. These treatments allow me to assess your skin’s current condition and see how it responds to professional care. Regardless of which facial you book, I always build in an additional 5-10 minutes for first-time clients to allow for a detailed skin evaluation and time to understand your unique skin needs and goals.

For safety and best results, I don’t combine advanced treatments—like dermaplaning and peels—until each has been performed separately with a positive skin response. I also reserve the right to adjust or modify a treatment if I feel it isn’t in your skin’s best interest or if there are any contraindications. My goal is always to protect your barrier and guide your skin toward long-term health and balance.

  • For optimal, balanced skin, I recommend every 4–6 weeks. This aligns with your skin’s natural renewal cycle and helps maintain consistent progress.

  • Dermaplaning is a gentle exfoliation that removes dull surface cells and fine vellus hair using a sterile surgical blade. The result is smoother texture, increased product absorption, and a luminous, even glow.

  • Avoid using retinol for 5 days before treatment and exfoliating acids, or scrubs for at least 3–5 days before your appointment.  If you are prone to post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, applying a melanin suppressant is recommendation for 2 weeks prior to dermaplane.

  • For 48–72 hours, avoid sun exposure, heat (saunas, hot yoga), exfoliants, and retinoids. Always wear SPF daily—your skin will be more photosensitive following treatment.

  • For 3-4 days before your peel, avoid using retinol and exfoliating acids. Any treatments such as lasers, dermaplaning or waxing should be avoided 7 days prior to having a peel . Keep your skin hydrated and barrier-protected leading up to your appointment.

  • Post-peel, you may notice microscopic exfoliation or light flaking (microshedding) as your skin renews. Avoid picking, exfoliating, or using actives for at least 2-3 days.  Clients may not have any flaking at all, but if you do, it typically starts 2-3 days after the peel and lasts 2-3 days. Use only gentle, hydrating products and daily sunscreen

  • You’ll likely see smoother texture and improved clarity within a few days. For deeper results—such as softening fine lines, fading discoloration, or improving acne—a series of peels spaced 2–3 weeks apart is generally suggested.

  • Yes — a Linder Health peel can be added to a facial for enhanced results. However, for more advanced combinations such as dermaplaning with a peel, each treatment must first be performed individually to ensure your skin tolerates them well. Once your skin demonstrates a healthy response to both, we can safely combine them for a more advanced treatment experience.

  • While both treatments are safe and effective for most clients, there are some conditions that may temporarily or permanently prevent treatment:

    Dermaplaning contraindications:

    • Active acne or inflamed breakouts

    • Open lesions, cuts, or wounds, active cold sores, recent sunburn or windburn

    • Use of isotretinoin (Accutane) within the last 12 months, severe rosacea or eczema flare-ups, recent waxing, laser, or other resurfacing within 7 days

    Chemical peel contraindications:

    • Compromised or overly sensitised skin barrier, sunburn

    • Pregnancy or breastfeeding, active cold sores or infection

    • Use of isotretinoin (Accutane) within the past 12 months, recent waxing, microneedling, or resurfacing treatments, allergy or hypersensitivity to peel ingredients

I’ll always perform a thorough consultation before treatment to ensure your skin is ready and that we choose the safest, most beneficial approach for your current condition.

  • I understand that life happens and unexpected things come up. If you arrive late, your treatment will simply be shortened as needed so we can stay on schedule for the next client.

Cancellations are accepted up to 24 hours before your appointment with no penalty. Cancellations made within 24 hours will be charged $25, and no-shows will be charged 50% of the service price.

If you’re feeling unwell, please try to cancel before the 24-hour window. However, if you wake up sick or need to cancel last-minute due to illness, just let me know as soon as possible—your appointment will be canceled without a fee.

I also understand that true emergencies can happen. If an unforeseen situation prevents you from making your appointment, please send me an email explaining what happened, and I’ll most likely waive the no-show fee.

This policy exists simply to ensure that both my time as a provider and your time as a client are respected. Thank you for your understanding and consideration.
